I have been asked for the pattern i use to make these so it it goes

Materiels used

10 ply cotton

H/8-5.00 mm hook

2 buttons

Row 1: fsc 18, ch 1 (does not count as a st) (18)

Do not turn

Row 2: working into the top loops of the last fsc made work 3 dc, dc in each of the next 16 fsc, into the last fsc work 3, working up the other side of the fsc work a 2 dc in the first fsc, work 1 dc in each of the next 16, dc in the very first (same space as the 1st 3) join with a slst (41 dc) finish off leaving a long tail to sew on the button

US Terms used

Chain = Ch

Foundation Double crochet = Fdc

Single crochet = SC

Double crochet =Dc

Slip stitch = Slst

3 double crochet together in the same stitch = dc3tog

5 double crochet together in the same stitch = dc5tog

Gauge for a 5mm hook 10dc across X 5dc rows = 2 inches X 2 inches

Gauge for a 5.5mm hook 10dc across X 5dc rows = 2 ½ inches X 2.2 inches

Meanings of the Pride colours 

Pink – sex.

Red – life.

Orange – healing.

Yellow – sunlight.

Green – nature.

Turquoise – magic/art.

Indigo – serenity.

Violet – spirit.

 

Special Stitches

How to do a Foundation Double crochet stitch:

  • Step 1: Chain 2.
  • Step 2: Yarn over, insert hook into the first chain.
  • Step 3: Yarn over, and work as a double crochet (dc).
  • Step 4: Yarn over, insert hook into top two sts at the base of the just completed dc.
  • Step 5: Yarn over, pull through loop.
  • Step 6: Yarn over, pull through two loops. (2 loops on hook)
  • Step 7: Yarn over, pull through two loops again. (1 loop on hook)
  • Repeat step 4- 7 until you have the stitches you need

 

How to do a dc3tog:

  • Yarn over insert hook into next st, Yarn over draw yarn through st. (3)
  • Yarn over and draw through two loops on hook. (2 loops)
  • Yarn over insert hook into next st in row, Yarn over and draw through stitch, Yarn over and draw through two loops on hook. (3 loops)
  • Yarn over, insert hook into next st in row, Yarn over and draw through two (5 sts on hook).
  • Yarn over and draw through 2 loops on hook (4 loops).
  • Yarn over draw through all 4 sts on hook.

 

How to do a dc5tog:

  • Yarn over insert hook into next st in row, yarn over draw yarn through (3 loops)
  • Yarn over insert hook into next st, yarn over draw through 2 loops (4 loops)
  • Yarn over insert hook into next st, yarn over draw through 2 loops (5 loops)
  • Yarn over insert hook into next st, yarn over draw through 2 loops (6 loops)
  • Yarn over draw yarn through all 6 loops on hook, tighten

 

Notes: Ch 1 and turn does not count as a stitch throughout the pattern, alternatively you can use a standing double crochet stitch

The first dc in every row will always go in the same stitch as the turning ch 1

Each colour will have 2 repeats of the pattern

With Pink

Row 1: Fdc 37 ch 1 turn (37 sts)

Note: this will end up being the middle of your scarf, after 7 heart (row’s 1-12) repeats you will finish off and re-join back into your first stitch this will ensure your hearts will be facing the right way when worn

 

Row 2: dc in same st as turning ch, ch 1, sk 3 sts (3 dc, dc, 2 dc, ch 1, sk 3, 2 dc, dc, 3 dc) heart top made, ch 1, sk 3, dc, ch 1, sk 1, dc, ch 1, sk 1 dc, ch 1, sk 3 sts, (3 dc, dc, 2 dc, ch 1, sk 3, 2 dc, dc, 3 dc) heart top made, ch 1, sk 3, dc in last st, ch 1 turn (29 dc, 8 ch 1)

Step 1

 

Row 3: dc in same st as ch 1, ch 1, (dc in each of the next 13 sts), first heart made, ch 1, sk 1, dc in dc, rep 3 times, ch 1, (13 dc) second heart made, ch 1, dc in last st, ch 1 turn (31 dc, 6 ch 1)

Step 2

 

Row 4: dc in same st as ch 1, ch 3, (dc3tog, 7 dc, dc3tog) heart made, ch 3, dc in dc, 3 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, ch 3, (dc3tog, 7 dc, dc3tog) heart made, ch 3, dc in last st, ch 1 turn (4 dc3tog, 21 dc, 4 ch 3)

Row 11: dc in same st as ch 1, ch 1, dc in dc, ch 1, dc in dc, ch 1, dc3tog, ch 1, dc in dc, ch 1, dc in dc, ch 1, dc in ch 3 sp, ch 3, (dc3tog, 3 dc, dc3tog) heart made, ch 3, dc in ch 3 sp, ch 1, dc in dc, ch 1, dc in dc, ch 1, dc3tog, *ch 1, dc in dc* rep from *to* 3X, ch 1 turn (15 dc, 4 dc3tog, 12 ch 1, 2 ch 3)

Row 12: dc in same st as ch 1, *ch 1, sk 1, dc* rep from *to* 6 X, ch 1, dc in ch 3 sp, ch 3, (dc5tog) heart made, ch 3, dc in ch 3 sp, *ch 1, sk 1, dc* rep from *to* 7X ch 1 turn (16 dc, 1 dc5tog, 14 ch 1, 2 ch 3)

Change colour to Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, light blue, dark blue, light purple

Row 13: dc in every st across (37 dc)

Repeat rows 2 – 13 for 14 heart repeats for an extra-long one, finish off and join yarn at the other end and continue to grow the other side for 14 heart repeats.

For the tassels: cut 74 15-inch lengths of yarn fold in half with your hook pull through a stitch thread the two tails through the loop and pull tight
